avast antivirus is among the most highly-rated security suites available. It is highly effective in mobile and desktop security, scans malware and has other features, including an anti-theft tool and software updater. It also has sandboxing technology that checks for suspicious files before they’re run on your device or computer.
The user interface of Avast is simple and clean. The dashboard centrally displays all the tools the suite can provide and includes clear icons for each. The menu bar and settings are clearly labeled and any new issues are displayed in a message tab on the dashboard. Avast’s complete scan has minimal impact on system performance. The program also scores well in tests of its protection against various types malware, including ransomware.
However, in the final quarter of 2019 and the beginning of 2020, Avast made headlines for selling and collecting user data through a feature called Jumpshot. Fortunately, Avast has ended this practice. It declares that it no more collects any user information in order to market.
Avast offers a variety of subscription plans for both users and businesses. The basic home plan provides protection for up to five devices. Paid options offer more protection and more features such as a password manager or ads blocking. Avast’s business plans provide more flexibility and other security features such as an encryptor for internet traffic and the ability to monitor a USB port monitor that blocks the use of unauthorized removable storage, and an encrypted virtual private network that allows secure browsing.
